Description
Sawgrass VersiFlex SG1000 Bundle – Printer, 31ml Ink Set & VersiFlex Light Paper
The large-format VersiFlex system — Sawgrass SG1000 printer with 11×17 capability, complete CMY+Expander ink set (31ml each), and VersiFlex Light transfer paper in both 8.5×11 and 11×17 sizes. Print on cotton, fabric blends, wood, ceramic, slate, and compatible blanks from a single desktop system. The natural upgrade from the SG500 for growing businesses.
SG1000 or SG500 — Which VersiFlex Bundle Is Right for You?
Choose the SG1000 if you need 11×17 output, larger apparel designs, or higher-volume production. The SG1000 prints on media up to 11×17 (standard tray) — double the width of the SG500's 8.5×14 maximum. Everything else — the VersiFlex ink system, software, multi-surface capability, and warranty — is identical between both models. The only meaningful difference is print format size and production throughput.
Choose the SG500 VersiFlex Bundle if you primarily print smaller-format items like mugs, tote bags, small apparel, and gifts — and want the most compact, lowest-cost VersiFlex entry point. Note: VersiFlex ink systems cannot be mixed with SubliJet UHD, EasySubli, or ChromaBlast — each requires a dedicated printer.
What's Included in This VersiFlex SG1000 Bundle
Not included: heat press (required for all VersiFlex transfers). A heat press with adjustable pressure is recommended. Additional VersiFlex Light paper and individual ink cartridges are available separately.
Sawgrass SG1000 vs SG500 — What's the Difference?
Both models have the same internal components and operate the same way. The key difference is print format: the SG1000 supports up to 11×17 (A3/Tabloid) with the standard tray, while the SG500 supports up to 8.5×14 (A4/Legal). Both support the optional bypass tray for extended lengths.

What Can You Print on With the SG1000 VersiFlex?
VersiFlex is designed for white and light-colored surfaces. Best results depend on correct paper selection, press settings, and Sawgrass Creative Studio profiles for each substrate. The SG1000's 11×17 format expands what's achievable — full-size apparel transfers, oversized décor, and medium photo panels are all within reach.
Apparel & Soft Goods (11×17 Advantage)
Full-size cotton T-shirt transfers · All-over apparel designs · Polo shirts · Fabric blends · Nylon · Suede · Canvas bags and totes · Larger textile applications
Hard Surfaces & Décor
Uncoated wood signs, panels, and plaques · Ceramic tiles · Slate boards · Poly-coated sublimation blanks · Mugs and drinkware · Medium-sized photo panels including Chromaluxe
Signage & Promotional Products
Interior signage and branded décor · Awards and plaques · Custom promotional merchandise · Larger event merchandise · Corporate branded apparel and gifts
VersiFlex Does Not Work on Dark Fabrics
VersiFlex has no white ink. Dark and black fabrics are not compatible. Always use white, cream, or light-colored materials, Sawgrass VersiFlex Light transfer paper, and follow current Sawgrass-published press settings for each material. Using generic paper or incorrect profiles will produce poor results.
Who Is the VersiFlex SG1000 Bundle Best For?
Growing Custom Apparel Businesses
The 11×17 format is the key differentiator — full-size cotton T-shirt transfers, larger apparel panels, and all-over designs that the SG500 cannot accommodate. The natural upgrade for shops that have outgrown 8.5×11 output.
Print Shops & Personalization Studios
Higher-volume production with consistent professional output across cotton apparel, wood signs, ceramic tiles, and promotional products — all from a single desktop system with one ink workflow.
Etsy Sellers Scaling Up
Handling a growing volume of orders across multiple product types? The SG1000's larger format and dual-paper-size bundle support a wider catalog without adding a second printer or switching workflows.
Schools, Maker Spaces & Studios
Large-format fabric and hard-goods production for educational programs, school events, custom merchandise, and maker space projects — without the complexity of DTG or DTF equipment.
Signage & Décor Businesses
Larger wood panels, interior signage, branded décor, and medium-format photo panels benefit from 11×17 output. The SG1000 handles these formats where the SG500 would require multiple passes or tiling.
Corporate Branded Merchandise
Custom cotton apparel, tote bags, and branded décor for corporate clients. VersiFlex enables consistent, professional results across a wide product mix from a single workflow.
What Is VersiFlex? The 3-in-1 Decorating System
VersiFlex is Sawgrass's next-generation decorating ink technology — a system that combines sublimation, Direct-to-Film (DTF), and Direct-to-Garment (DTG) capabilities in a single desktop workflow. Unlike standard SubliJet UHD sublimation, which requires polyester or polymer-coated surfaces, VersiFlex uses specialized transfer paper to print on cotton, fabric blends, uncoated wood, ceramic, slate, and compatible coated blanks — from the same SG1000 printer, without pre-treatment.
No Pre-Treatment Required
Unlike traditional DTG printing, VersiFlex needs no pre-treatment chemicals or spraying steps. Print with VersiFlex ink, heat press with VersiFlex Light paper, done.
Soft, Breathable Fabric Output
Prints on cotton with a soft, natural feel that does not crack or peel. Wash fastness tested to 30+ washes — closer to DTG quality than HTV, without the complexity.
CMY + Expander (Not CMYK)
VersiFlex uses Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Expander cartridges. The Expander is not optional — it is a required component that enables the VersiFlex multi-surface workflow.
Ink Systems Cannot Be Mixed or Switched
Printers with SubliJet UHD, EasySubli, or ChromaBlast cannot be converted to VersiFlex. Each system requires a dedicated printer. If you want both workflows, you need two separate printers. Switching ink systems risks contamination, head damage, and voids the Sawgrass warranty.
Sawgrass Software — Free and Included
Sawgrass Creative Studio
Required print management software for all Sawgrass printers. Free and cloud-based. Manages VersiFlex color profiles, substrate presets, and the print queue. No third-party RIP software needed. Includes design tools and Sawgrass Academy training resources.
System Requirements
Windows Professional, Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate (tested and approved). macOS 10.13 or later with Intel processor (latest Apple updates required). Requires internet connection for cloud-based Creative Studio access.
