Is the Sinfonia CS2 a good photo booth printer?

The CS2 is worth considering when your priorities are portability, 4×6 photos and 2×6 photo booth strips. Its roughly 22-pound weight helps keep the printer portion of a mobile setup manageable. Sinfonia specifically identifies photo booths, event photography and kiosks among its applications. Manufacturer overview.

For a wedding booth, think about the complete guest experience: posing, printing, collecting copies and making room for the next group. For a corporate event, think about how a branded print will be handed out and carried home. Choose your printer around that workflow, then match your software, media and transport equipment to it.

  • Mobile photo booth operators: build a package around traditional strips or full-size photo layouts.
  • Event photographers: offer an on-site print station for portraits and event keepsakes.
  • Growing businesses: evaluate the CS2 as a first printer or a second station using the same pre-event testing process.

For larger formats or long periods of unattended printing, compare your requirements with other equipment before buying. A small footprint is useful, but it should fit your actual print demand. Our photo booth business guide can help you plan the wider setup.

A compact photo booth printer that makes room for your business

The CS2 has the smallest printer-body footprint of the four models compared below. Its low profile is particularly useful when planning a booth shelf, transport case or tabletop print station. Sinfonia describes the CS2 as one of the world's smallest and lightest photo printers; the measurements below put that compact design into context without claiming it is the smallest printer on the entire market.

Sinfonia CS2 dimensions: 272 mm wide, 351 mm deep and 168 mm high, approximately 10.7 by 13.8 by 6.6 inches
CS2 body dimensions verified against Sinfonia's specifications. The illustration rounds inches to one decimal place. Allow additional room for output, cables, ventilation and loading.

CS2 vs. DNP RX1HS, DS620A and HiTi P525L: size comparison

All measurements use the same order: width × depth × height. Inch values are converted from the manufacturer-listed millimeter dimensions and rounded to two decimal places.

Manufacturer-listed printer dimensions
Printer W × D × H (inches) W × D × H (mm) Body footprint
Sinfonia CS2 10.71 × 13.82 × 6.61 272 × 351 × 168 148.0 sq. in.
DNP DS620A 10.83 × 14.41 × 6.69 275 × 366 × 170 156.0 sq. in.
DNP DS-RX1HS 12.68 × 13.82 × 11.06 322 × 351 × 281 175.2 sq. in.
HiTi P525L 12.87 × 14.13 × 11.81 327 × 359 × 300 182.0 sq. in.

How much tabletop area does the printer body occupy?

Calculated width × depth • Smaller is more compact

Sinfonia CS2148.0 sq. in.

DNP DS620A156.0 sq. in.

DNP DS-RX1HS175.2 sq. in.

HiTi P525L182.0 sq. in.

0100200 sq. in.
Calculated from the millimeter dimensions in the table: width × depth ÷ 645.16. This is a rectangular body-footprint comparison, not the total operating area or carrying-case size.
What the size difference means for your setup
  • Compared with the DS620A: the CS2's body footprint is about 5% smaller. Both have a similarly low profile, so this is a modest size advantage.
  • Compared with the RX1HS: the CS2's footprint is about 16% smaller, with a body approximately 4.45 inches shorter in height.
  • Compared with the P525L: the CS2's footprint is about 19% smaller, with a body approximately 5.20 inches shorter in height.

Those differences can help when allocating shelf space and packing equipment for a mobile event. Measure the full working space before choosing an enclosure: paper collection, open loading access, cable routing and manufacturer-required ventilation still need room. Compactness is one buying factor alongside media capacity, software compatibility and your event's print demand.

What does dye-sublimation mean for your workflow?

The CS2 uses matched ribbon and roll paper, with yellow, magenta and cyan dye plus an overcoat. Matte output is also available. Sinfonia explains its printing system and finish options.

For your business, the useful question is how consistently the complete setup produces the look you want. Prepare a sample layout with faces, brand colors and fine text. Check the physical print before approving the design for a paid event; a screen preview alone does not show cropping or the final appearance on paper.

CS2 media: understand rolls, boxes and photo strips

The Sinfonia CS2 4×6 paper and ribbon kit contains two paper rolls and two ribbons, rated for 600 prints in total. Each roll provides 300 4×6 prints. The full box does not load into the printer at once.

Order media by the exact printer model and format. A box being labeled “4×6” does not make it compatible with every dye-sub printer.

How many 2×6 strips can one box produce?

With the appropriate split-print setup, a 600-print 4×6 kit represents up to 1,200 individual 2×6 strips: 600 print layouts × two strips. If each session receives a pair, that is up to 600 sessions before allowing for test prints, duplicate orders or waste. It is not 1,200 two-strip sessions.

Plan copies before you pack.

For example, 200 sessions with one strip pair per session use 200 4×6 print equivalents. Giving each session two pairs doubles the requirement to 400. Your copy policy can change media demand more than the guest count suggests.

How to calculate Sinfonia CS2 cost per print

Media cost per 4×6 photo = delivered kit cost ÷ 600. Use the price you actually pay, including applicable freight and tax, for a realistic media budget.

As an illustration, a kit costing $120 delivered works out to $0.20 per 4×6 photo, or $0.10 per individual strip when both halves are used. That also means $0.20 per strip pair. This is an example, not a current price quotation.

Media cost is only one part of your event pricing. Include labor, transport, software, test prints, packaging and equipment costs when calculating profitability. Check the current CS2 4×6 kit price or shop CS2 6×8 media.

Check your CS2 setup before the first event

  1. Confirm the computer and software. Sinfonia's CS2 product page lists Windows drivers, including Windows 10 and 11. Match the driver to your actual operating system and hardware, and check your booth software's requirements. Start with Sinfonia's official downloads; do not assume compatibility with every computer running Windows.
  2. Choose your output format. Test the template, orientation, crop and cut setting together. Check that both strips contain the intended design.
  3. Check accessories for 5×7. EventPrinters' CS2 bundle listing notes that 5×7 printing requires a spacer sold separately. Confirm the spacer and suitable media before offering this size.
  4. Plan the physical station. Leave access for loading and collection. Pack the necessary cables, matched spare media and your tested print settings.
  5. Run a rehearsal. Send several consecutive jobs from the same software you will use at the venue, then review cropping, copies and print collection.

If a problem occurs, record the error message and use Sinfonia's support resources for model-specific instructions. A written setup checklist makes the next event easier to prepare.
