Our DNP Dealer Opinion: What Makes the RX1HS Different?
Product specifications do not fully explain why two professional printers that both produce 4×6 photographs can appeal to very different operators.
In our view, the RX1HS should be evaluated as a capacity-first event printer. Its defining number is not 12.4 seconds—it is 700 4×6 prints on one roll.
Compare that with the DNP DS620A, which holds 400 4×6 prints per roll. The RX1HS therefore provides substantially more uninterrupted 4×6 capacity before somebody has to open the printer and reload media.
Dealer perspective: Printer speed gets more attention in advertising, but at a long event the number of times an operator must interrupt the workflow to change paper and ribbon can be equally important. If your queue is manageable at 12.4 seconds per print, the RX1HS's 700-print roll can be a major operational advantage.
Conversely, we would not recommend choosing the RX1HS simply because it is a DNP professional printer. If you regularly experience short, intense bursts where dozens of guests are waiting for prints at once, the faster DS620A may be the better business tool.

Current DNP documentation can be confusing here because there are multiple ways that 5×7 output has been supported in the RX platform.
DNP's current media catalog lists dedicated RX1HS 5×7 media at 400 prints per roll. DNP's printer documentation also describes a 5×7 workflow produced from 6×8 media with a 1/2-inch white border.

Is the DS-RX1HS Good for 2×6 Photo Booth Strips?
Yes. This is one of the printer's most important photo booth applications.
DNP documents two 2×6 strips on a 4×6 print and up to four 2×6 strips on a 6×8 layout. The final layout depends on compatible photo booth software and printer settings.
With standard 4×6 media, a 700-print roll can therefore produce up to 1,400 individual 2×6 strips when each 4×6 print is divided into two strips.
Why this matters: For a traditional two-strip photo booth layout, the RX1HS combines very high strip capacity with relatively infrequent media changes. This is one of the workflows where the RX1HS makes particularly good practical sense.
